There are many, many miles of woods roads and trails on our clients' properties. All of these roads and trails require some level of maintenance to keep them safe and passable.
Road and trail maintenance can be classified into 3 categories:
Light: Using a chainsaw to remove fallen trees, a shovel to maintain water bars and keep culverts open, and using herbide.
Medium: Using a tractor with a bush hog and/or box blade to keep the road surface maintained.
Heavy: Using a bulldozer to reshape the road and build/repair water bars.
In this photo, Alan Nichols with Nichols Grading is regrading a former truck road. Ten years ago a tandem truck could use this road. It was almost impassable for an ATV before reworking. We like Alan and want him to stay busy, but if you will keep your light and medium road maintenance up to date you can save yourself some money.
