The following is a scanned letter written by Mr. WM Reeves on July 16, 1916. Mr. Reeves worked in a coal mine in West Virginia and was writing his family who lived on Reddies River near North Wilkesboro. The letter was written after Mr. Reeves heard of the 1916 flood, which is the same flood that washed away the lumber flume.
